🧰 The Builders' Issue: WebSocket Streams, Grok Build, Gemini 3.1 Apps
February 25, 2026
It's Wednesday, February 25th: This week, builders can wire live token streams into their apps with OpenAI's WebSocket mode, ship browser-based multi-agent coding workflows in Grok Build, and prototype full-stack Gemini 3.1 Pro apps directly from Google AI Studio.
Head over to our Events Portal to get the latest on upcoming AI Collective events near you. Search by city, date, or event format, and join thousands of builders at events across 100+ chapters on every continent (except Antarctica, for now).

In Today’s Top Tools, we spotlight some of the most innovative, creative AI apps that we recommend adding to your stack.
1️⃣ OpenAI Responses API WebSocket Mode
OpenAI’s Responses API now supports WebSocket mode so you can stream tokens over a persistent connection instead of polling HTTP. It lets you send a request once and receive server-to-client events as the model generates, with clear lifecycle messages for started, output, and completed states. This closes the loop for chat, coding, and multiplayer experiences that need low-latency, bidirectional model interaction rather than one-off completions.
2️⃣ Grok Build by xAI
Grok Build is xAI’s browser-based coding environment that connects directly to Grok 4.20’s multi-agent system, so four specialized agents collaborate on the same codebase in real time. One agent focuses on implementation, another on refactors, another on tests, and another on higher-level planning, giving you a continuously updating loop of suggestions, diffs, and fixes inside a single workspace. For builders, it turns “chat with a model about code” into a multi-agent coding lane where the environment and the assistants are designed to move a repo forward together, not just answer isolated questions.
3️⃣ Google AI Studio with Gemini 3.1 Pro
Google AI Studio now lets you build full-stack apps around Gemini 3.1 Pro, including API routes, server code, databases, and front-end views in a single workflow. You can define data models, wire up auth, and generate UI plus backend handlers while iterating on prompts against what Artificial Analysis currently ranks as the top overall AI model. For applied AI teams, this pushes AI Studio from “prompt sandboxes” into a place where you can stand up working prototypes and then export to your own stack when you’re ready.
Here are a few standout opportunities from companies building at the edge of AI. Each role is selected for impact, growth potential, and relevance to our community.
Machine Learning Engineer, Quickchat AI, Warsaw / Remote ($48K - $96K):
“Join Quickchat’s technology team to build consumer products and business solutions on top of state-of-the-art language models like GPT, taking ownership of core systems and shipping ML into production from day one.”
Research Engineer – Foundational AI, Piramidal, Remote ($120K - $280K):
“Build large-scale deep learning systems for electrophysiological brain data, designing and implementing distributed training pipelines for a foundation model that decodes and controls neural syntax.”
AI Research Engineer, Poly, San Francisco ($150K - $350K•0.25% - 5.00%):
“Help turn Poly into an ‘AI search engine for your life’ by scaling multimodal models over files, shaping cloud and AI architecture, and pushing new LLM-driven retrieval and organization features into users’ hands quickly.”
AI Research Engineer, Arva AI, London (£80K - £120K GBP • 0.30% - 0.50%): “Help Arva AI build in-house LLMs and agentic systems for financial crime intelligence, training, fine-tuning, and rigorously evaluating models that automate AML reviews and due diligence while cutting manual review costs for banks and fintechs.”
