🚀 OpenAI launches apps, agents, and more at Dev Day
News: At Dev Day 2025, OpenAI introduced Apps SDK, AgentKit, and full API integrations that effectively absorb the value propositions of countless agent and automation startups. With ChatGPT now acting as the native platform for building, deploying, and monetizing apps and agents (integrated directly with services like Slack, Notion, Canva, and more) OpenAI has redefined the battleground for AI innovation.
Details:
App integrations directly inside ChatGPT, allowing users to run, chat with, and build apps with the new Apps SDK and full launch notes. Launch partners include Canva, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow.
In-convo app embeds + monetization models, with a dedicated App Store coming later this year, as OpenAI positions itself as a centralized app distribution layer.
AgentKit: a robust toolkit with a visual builder, embeddable chat UIs, evaluation tools, and connectors—directly challenging automation players like Zapier, n8n, and Lindy.
GPT-5-Codex is now generally available, with native Slack support, embeddable SDK, and advanced enterprise controls.
Developers can now tap into GPT-5 Pro, Sora 2, and a gpt-realtime-mini voice model that delivers the same quality at 70% lower cost.
Why it matters: OpenAI is transforming ChatGPT into a foundational internet interface - where users can summon tools and content directly through conversation. With AgentKit entering the competitive automation market and the Apps SDK unlocking new monetization channels, the platform shift is both technical and economic.
🤖 Figure unveils mass-producible humanoid robot
News: Figure has officially launched the Figure 03, a third-generation humanoid robot designed for scalable, real-world deployment across homes, factories, and commercial spaces.
Details:
Powered by “Helix,” Figure’s proprietary vision-language-action model, Figure 03 processes real-time visual input, language commands, and physical responses to perform household and workplace tasks.
ts redesigned vision system captures at double the previous frame rate with a 60% wider field of view. Upgraded hands include palm-mounted cameras and tactile fingertip sensors for precision handling of delicate or oddly shaped items.
Figure 03 can wirelessly recharge via a specialized mat, allowing for seamless integration into daily environments.
Built from the ground up using die-casting and injection molding, Figure 03 will be assembled at the company’s “BotQ“ factory—targeting 12,000 units annually, scaling to 100,000 within four years.
Why it matters: Figure 03 bridges the gap between prototype and product with practical, scalable design. Its human-safe form factor, rapid learning AI, and robust hardware ecosystem could accelerate humanoid robot adoption in both homes and enterprises.
🎤 Recapping a Historic SF Tech Week!
Some call SFTW the Superbowl of AI… and I think that might even be an understatement. It’s safe to say that this SFTW was one for the history books.
The turnout for San Francisco Tech Week was the best we’ve ever seen. 5,000+ RSVPs across 10 events in just five days — The AI Collective brought the global AI community together like never before. From hackathons and demo nights to panels, investor dinners, and deep dives into the future of AI, the energy was unreal.
Huge shoutout to our SF teams for pulling off an unforgettable week, to the thousands of members who traveled from all over the world to be here in person, and to the entire community for spreading the word and making every single event a success. ⭐️
